맨드레이크소프트사에서 드디어 X86용 맨드레이크 리눅스 10.2 RC1에 대해서 정식적으로
릴리즈를 발표하였으며, 내용은 다음과 같습니다.(영어라서 못알아 먹겠다... 모의고사 영어점수 안나온 놈의 비애)
The first Release Candidate of the Mandrakelinux 10.2 is available for computers x86 compatible via FTP or bittorrent.
The final version is due in two weeks, it is now very important for you to give the more feedback as possible.
You can post bugs with bugzilla. Please check that your bugs have not already been reported.
You are encouraged to check the Wiki to have the latest pieces of information, as well as the Release Notes.
Club members have access to a DVD with far more packages (3700 against 1800 for the 3 CDs) as with the x86_64 beta 2. This DVD also includes several device drivers and proprietary files format support. If you have already downloaded the 3 CDs version, you can use the Supplementary Drivers CD, only 280 MB, which only includes what is needed to configure 3D functions on some video cards, most of the WiFi cards drivers, and plug-ins drivers for proprietary file and video formats. This CD must be used as a new CD 1.
Now some reminder of 10.2 features:
* Full CD copy during the installation so that CDs are not needed anymore to install new packages.
* Internet sources configuration during installation.
* New drakstats tool to give statistics on installed packages.
* Sound multiplexing with new ALSA library, even with cards which do not support it.
* linux kernel 2.6.11
* KDE 3.3.2 compiled with the -fvisibility option of gcc for enhanced performance.
* Installation boot with an USB key with the all.img image.
* Mozilla-firefox 1.0.1 with several translation files
* New removable device management with Gamin/HAL/gnome-volume-manager
* Screen resolution enhanced to include a better laptop and LCD support, especially with non 4/3 screen ratio.
* ndiswrapper support in drakconnect to use Microsoft Windows drivers for WiFi cards.
Now some numbers:
* I do not have time yet to correctly process the 280 drakstats reports we received, however you can have access to the (nearly) raw data.
* The bugs graph since the beginning of 2005.
* The daily bug number graph.
* 2900 bugs reported since October, 1st, 2004, 2880 bug resolved. More than 1300 bugs are still in open state, though.
If you want to install the RC1 on i586-only based computer (non i686 compatible, i.e. Pentium 1, K6, transmetta), you need to boot with the Mini CD (or the DVD) because there is a bug in the 3 CDs version preventing the installation to work correctly on these machines.
